A Fire Risk Assessment is the central requirement of the Fire Safety Order. The assessment identifies fire hazards, evaluates the level of risk to occupants and determines what control measures are necessary. The process reviews building layout and escape routes, potential sources of ignition and combustible materials, fire detection and alarm systems, fire doors, compartmentation and passive fire protection measures, fire safety procedures and staff awareness. Following a Fire Risk Assessment, responsible persons must implement and maintain appropriate fire safety measures. This includes ensuring that fire protection systems remain effective, escape routes are maintained and occupants are informed about fire safety procedures.
